Antennaria

See list of 4 species in this genus

Diploid species of AntennariaA. neglecta and A. plantaginifolia—routinely produce staminate individuals within populations, whereas polyploid species— A. howellii and
 A. parlinii—do not, or do so with great rarity. Therefore, noting the sex of plants observed in populations on herbarium labels can be useful for later reviewers. Also, whole plant collections, which include the stolons and their rosettes (if formed) are much more valuable than single-stem collections. Reference: Bayer (2006).
